Job Description
Senior Network Engineer, under general direction, manages the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems. Responsible for evaluating current systems. Works on complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Plans large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provides work leadership and training to lower level network engineers. Requires expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applications.
Duties may include:
Designing and defining system architecture for new or existing computer systems
Applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments
Designing, implementing and managing high availability/clustering and disaster recovery environment
Supporting establishment of plans and templates in line with the overall technical architecture format and program infrastructure platform
Completing technical documentation to design, test, implement, train, and transition solutions to operational support
Troubleshooting and deep dive into VMware infrastructure. Other application experience is helpful: Exchange Server, Active Directory, Azure, VPN, and other relevant IT related technologies
Monitoring, administer, and maintain vCenter modules and configurations
Supporting implementation, configuration, operations, and maintenance of VMware components to include vCenter Server, ESXi Hosts, Standard/Distributed vSwitches, vSphere Data Protection, Operations Manager, etc.
Designing, implementing, and maintaining a hybrid cloud integrate with multiple public cloud service providers
Researching/assisting in development, and/or participating in hands-on installation, configuration, and maintenance of large enterprise applications. Includes troubleshooting hardware, software, network and system production issues, supporting deployment of other Storage and OS configuration components, automation and upgrade, Continuity of Operation, backup and recovery
Other Requirements:
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science AND 7 years of relevant experience -OR- Associate's degree in IT/Computer Science AND 9 years of relevant experience -OR- 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
Experience in developing RMF packages or bodies of evidence
Prior performance in roles such as System or Network Administrator
Training:
IAT Level 2
Combatting Trafficking in Persons (CTIP)
Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI Clearance and the willingness to sit for a CI polygraph, if needed
