SQL Server Database Engineer

Job Description:

Perform systems administration of Microsoft SQL Server systems connected to local and wide area networks. Maintain responsibility for database system management, including account monitoring, security, operating system (OS) installation, and other local area systems administration and engineer functions. Support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. Support the trouble ticket notification system and remain involved in the resolution process. Configure and manage Windows operating systems. Isolate and resolve hardware and software problems involving applications, operating system, hardware, communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof. Troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components and implement operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

 

 

Requirements:

-Experience with using database tools, including Structured Query Language (SQL), the full suite of tools available in Microsoft SQL Servers

-Experience with Microsoft Clustering Technology
-Experience with disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, database replication, high availability, and data monitoring, including administering, maintaining, analyzing, and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring database security and integrity
-Ability to perform Microsoft SQL Server and equivalent DBMS database and application server administration
-Ability to perform database and software lifecycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements

-Active TS/SCI clearance required; willingness to take a polygraph exam

-HS diploma or GED and 8 years of experience with systems administration, AA or AS degree and 6 years of experience with systems administration, BA or BS degree and 4 years of experience with systems administration, MA or MS degree and 2 years of experience with systems administration, or PhD degree
-DoD 8570 Compliance IAT Level II Certification required within 90 days of hire
