Database Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that proposed changes to the database align technically with the NGIC Architecture.

  • Interacts with Information Assurance experts to ensure the database is compliant with IA requirements.

  • Performs data management, including extraction of raw data from databases using SQL query and/or XML.

  • Uses data analysis tools and provides assistance with data analysis of extracted data.

  • Responsible for database-side application programming. Interacts with Web Programmers and Database Programmers to develop web-database software applications.

  • Assists in the development and deployment of web and database applications.

  • Creates and maintains database schemas.

  • Prepares test scenarios for quality assurance testing of the developed software

  • Performs unit, integration and deployment testing of software.

  • Supports database setup and configuration activities for the Development, Test, and Production environments.

  • Develops database views to support WebTAS and flexible search and reporting.

  • Responsible for release management and required release interactions with NGIC SETAs, UAT, PROD, web, and database teams.

  • Interacts with ES representatives for Configuration Management and management of releases.

  • Participates in design reviews and readiness reviews.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in a technical field or relevant experience in lieu of degree

  • 10+ years of hands-on IT experience

  • Database programmer with a background in web application support.

  • Experience with views, packages, triggers, schemas, scheduled jobs, database account maintenance.

  • The candidate must have experience in one or more of the following programming language skills: Oracle SQL, and Oracle PL/SQL.
     

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience programming in one or more of the following: XML, JSON, PHP, SQL, MySQL, Javascript, JQuery, and MS Access.

  • Familiarity with ERWIN or other Data Modeling tools.

  • Hands-on skills with Oracle Virtual Private Database (VPD), Oracle Middleware, Oracle Database, Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) and Open Source Databases.

  • Understanding of NoSQL or non-relational database storage

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Experience in systems analysis techniques, concepts and methods and knowledge of available system software, computer equipment, and open-system architecture.
     

Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ CE or CISSP certified

  • Must be able to obtain DoD 8570.01-M IAT-I (Army AR25-2) certification.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 /year
