Job Description

Windows Server Operating Systems (OS) Engineer Level 4 joining our team to support Government activities in Annapolis Junction, M.D. As a Windows Server OS Engineer supporting the Government, you will be trusted to plan, test, improve, install, integrate, deploy, maintain, etc. new and upgraded operating system versions  of relevant systems and tools.


Level 4:

  • Skills and Tasks: Exceptionally Complex, Inter-Discipline, Inter-Organizational. Can perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and/or   managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the   tasks.

  • Leadership Management: May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when   required, takes steps to resolve issues.

  • Guidance: Provides experts guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior-level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors teams through project completion.


Standard Characteristics:

  • Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

  • Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities.

  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.

  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

  • Develop system architecture and system design documentation.

  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.

  • Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility. 

  • Communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.


In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Ensuring essential services are installed on supported OS versions and keeping the versions of the services up to date.

  • Performing research, analysis, and design for all Windows Server computing systems and the network infrastructure

  • Installing, monitoring, and tuning Windows Server operating system software and virtual machine sub-system software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new image build releases.

  • Capturing and refining client requirements and ensuring the requirements are effectively integrated into products and information systems through design, development, and configuration.

  • Employing best practices when implementing patch management/vulnerability management in the Server OS construct.

  • Developing, implementing, and documenting formal configuration guides as needed.

  • Providing security controls and maintaining necessary network/data separation.

  • Conducting system security engineering activities (Windows Server).


What you'll need:

  • Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies.

  • Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures.

  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN/VLAN, TCP/IP, and/or UDP.

  • Familiar with VMware ESXi and VSphere.

  • An ability to combine technical skills, creativity, and customer focus in delivering enterprise VDI solutions

  • Expertise in the Windows Server 2012, 2016, and/or 2019.


Training and Certifications:

  • IAT Level 2


Certification(s):

Preferred 

  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) 

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate- server 2019, 2016, 2012 (MCSA) 

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)


Education and Experience:

  • HS+12 Yrs

  • AD+10 Yrs

  • BD+8 Yrs

  • MD+6 Yrs

  • PHD+4 Yrs



Security Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI and the willingness to sit for a polygraph, if needed
