Job Description
VDI Engineer Level 4:
Our work depends on a VDI Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Annapolis Junction, MD, or Sterling, VA. As a VDI Engineer Level 4 supporting the Government, you will be charged with engineering solutions for baseline VDI builds to ensure upgrades are incorporated before operating system (OS) end-of-life.
This position has an alternate location of Sterling, VA.
Level 4:
Skills and Tasks: Exceptionally Complex, Inter-Discipline, Inter-Organizational. Can perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and/or managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks.
Leadership Management: May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.
Guidance: Provides experts guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors teams through project completion.
Standard Characteristics:
Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructures for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies
Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology
Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
Develop system architecture and system design documentation.
Interact with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.
Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Engineering, Designing, testing, implementing, maintaining, securing, and full life-cycle management of the complex Citrix XenDesktop and NetScaler solutions deployed in the large Enterprise environment
Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid.
Interacting with Government regarding technical considerations for problems, issues, or conflicts.
Engineering, implementing, mitigating, monitoring, and tuning VDI environment and management software to obtain Authorize To Operate (ATO) for new VDI solutions.
Managing Citrix products (Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops, ADC, Provisioning).
Operating and executing scripting skills in PowerShell or Python
Providing Tier 3 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)).
Preparing and maintaining documentation for VDI solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects.
What you'll need:
Experience performing engineering work associated with the design, development, maintenance, and testing of infrastructure for desktop application packaging and deployment technologies.
Knowledge of Citrix XenApp, AppLayering, and/or Enterprise Layer Manager (ELM).
Hands-on experience with SQL Clustering Failover.
Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures.
Expertise in the Windows 10 area – Standard Operating Environment (SOE), imaging, evergreen, etc.
