Job Description
Journeyman Database Architect (Principal Engineer Database):
Candidates will be working to support the transformation of all-source analysis with location-based object services.Visualizing and recreating the tools to assist analysts with protecting our nation.
We also have positions available in Northern Virginia.
Journeyman Level:
Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable
Position Description:
Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.
Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases.
Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements.
Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation
Experience:
5+ Years’ experience database engineering and management; designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing Big Data analytic systems
Bachelor of Science degree
Required Skills:
Database engineer supporting data management processes across all CLINs
Performs database engineering and management activities associated with high volume, multi-format (e.g., graphics, animation, text, video, and sound) data management services
Architects and designs large-scale data management solutions including developing efficient storage, indexing, and access approaches
Updates data enterprise architecture models (if needed) and data abstraction layer to enable access to new data sources
Designs and implements indexing strategies for ingested data.
Reviews and ensures compliance against data licensing, usage, and copyright restrictions
Designs and implements storage and indexing strategies across the multiple repositories to provide efficient storage and retrieval
Supports design and development of data access APIs
Supports trade studies / analyses of data ingest alternatives, assesses potential data ingest technologies, and provides recommendations
Develops or updates engineering artifacts associated with data management including Database Design Documents.
Tools and Skills:
Agile, AWS, RDBMS technology, Elasticsearch and/or SOLR, NoSQL technology (Hadoop and/or EMR)

DoD Approved Clearance and Poly
