Job Description
Storage Administrator:
Level 2:
Skills and Tasks Complex: Develops new concepts and processes. Analyzes root causes and resolves issues. Supports more junior level technicians and specialists in their activities. Can perform all tasks of lower level technicians or specialists.
Leadership Management: Works individually, actively participates on integrated teams, and may also lead a task, project or team.
Guidance: Requires guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers only when dealing with new, uncertain situations. Provides guidance to lower level technicians and specialists.
Job Description:
Install operate and maintain network and storage appliances.
Install patches and perform system updates.
Manage storage allocation space, and replication strategies.
Analyze and resolve problems related to storage systems and network storage solutions.
Troubleshoot and restore complex storage problems across the enterprise related to replication strategies and storage strategies across wide area networks.
Provide recommendations on storage upgrades and supports project integration as required.
Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
Understands and applies more advanced concepts and processes to daily activities.
Assists more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities.
Recover data when required.
Required Skills:
Ability to set policy-based backup schedules using vSphere tags, or other criteria for backup schedule.
Familiarity withCohesity/Rubrik/NetBackup backup service. Understanding of VMware and database servers (e.g. SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL). Familiarity
withCohesity/Rubrik/NetBackup backup services. Understanding of restoral capabilities, single file, or whole server.
Knowledge of Dell EMC Power Store arrays. Ability to configure LUNs, share to specific hosts, configure SAN fabric switches, monitor performance and capacity on
the array, and at the LUN level.
Understanding of VMware datastores and ability to monitor storage v-motion across storage objects.
Understanding of thin and thick provisioning, both at the array and datastore level. De-provisioning of storage and fabric configurations.
Knowledge of NetApp filers, as well as Storage Grid object storage.
Understanding of creating volumes, enabling SMB or NFS protocols. Ability to configure DFS namespaces to map to SMB storage targets. Understanding of object
storage, and configuration of storage grid.
Understanding of multi-protocol access to the same volume (NFS and SMB), as well as understanding of the NTFS access control methods.
Training and Certifications:
IAT Level 2
Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI polygraph
