Job Description
Cable Installer:
Position Summary:
Installs, removes, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs telecommunication equipment . This includes running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays. Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service or other telecommunication technology. Under direct supervision, determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installscommunication circuits. Responds to emergency calls in the event of a system failure. Makes precision adjustments on switches, relays, and other electrical control devices for maximum operating efficiency. Verifies services by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
Skill Level 0:
Skills and Task – Simple: Follows established processes and checklists. Understand and applies basic concepts. Assists more senior level technicians, specialists and managers in their activities.
Individual Work/Teamwork:Works individually and also as team participant.
Guidance: Requires moderate guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists and/or managers.
Job Description:
A strong work ethic and flexible attitude are critical for success in this role.
Performs installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems.
Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation.
Ability to terminate all forms of fiber by various methods familiarity with fiber connector types and manufacturers, experience testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, experience with OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting, pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables and labeling to industry standards.
Installing,terminating, and testing all forms of copper and fiber cabling.
Installing closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures.
Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times
Requirements:
Direct related experience (cabling, construction trades).
Proven experience as a fiber optic specialist BICSI Installer/Technician certification highly desired.
Reliable daily travel to worksites.
Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety.
Connduct network configuration and able to perform network troubleshooting.
