Job Description

Senior Network Administrator:




Job Description Summary:



Designs, plans, and builds communications networks. Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriatenetwork engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizingindustry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements.




Job Description:


Candidate must be able to remotely administer Cisco/Juniper devices and General Dynamics/Third Party encryptors.





Level 3:


  • Skills and Task - Exceptionally Complex: Researches and evaluates new concepts and processes to improve performance. Analyzes cross-functional problem sets, identifies root causes and resolves issues. Assists more junior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities. Can perform all tasks of lower level technicians, specialists, and/or managers.

  • Leadership Management: Works individually, actively participates on integrated teams, and leads multiple tasks, projects or teams. Oversees and monitors performance, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.

  • Guidance: Directs multiple teams through to project completion. Provides guidance and direction to lower level technicians, specialists, and managers.




Skill Requirements:


  • Responsible for the analysis, administration and support of voice, video, and/or data communications networks

  • Extensive experience monitoring and configuration of crypto equipment; extensive crypto experience may be substituted Ability to identify, analyze, and resolveoperating/hardware network system problems.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of CISCO and Juniper routers and switches Demonstrate network troubleshooting techniques and experience.

  • Ensure compliance with network security policies and procedures.

  • Manage the Enterprise Network for resource availability.

  • Experience with both LAN and WAN troubleshooting Experience with WAN circuit technologies (T1, DS3, OC-3, OC-12, OC-192)

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and applications as they pertain to the network environment

  • Process Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI's) as directed by GDIT Management.

  • Provide After Action Reports (AARs) for Problem Management resolution.

  • Experience with programming and troubleshooting KG-175A and KG-175D encryptors (to include 10G encryptors)

  • Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.

  • Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.

  • Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

  • Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

  • Provides advice and training to end-users.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems

  • May provide work leadership to less-experienced network personnel

  • Participates in special projects as required.




Additional Requirements:


  • Weekend work is required to correspond with enterprise outage windows.

  • Ability to work independently within a Team Concept.





Education and Experience:


  • High School Diploma + 9 years

  • Associate's Degree + 7 years

  • Bachelor's Degree + 5 years

  • Master's Degree + 3 years

  • PhD + 0 years




Training and Certifications:


  • Certifications: IAT II (required) CCNA (desired)




Security Clearance:


  • TS/SCI with CI poly
