Job Description

Senior Action Officer:




In this Role you Will:



In the role of Senior Action Officer to the Chief, Commercial Strategy and Commercial Strategy Briefing Coordinator you will make significant individual contributions within a fast-paced, highly collaborative entrepreneurial environment to provide high level business, operational, and executive support. You will lead the development of briefing materials for the principals, synthesizing complex information in dynamic situations to prepare communications for internal and external partners and stakeholders. The primary goals are to leverage the executives’ time, coordinate the support of the broader team, and successfully serve the Agency’s mission through the creation of clear briefing materials to clearly articulate the Commercial Strategy projects, priorities, and goals. 




Role Highlights:


  • Track and coordinate logistics for Commercial Strategy leadership's short- and long-term projects and engagements, including their daily schedule, briefings and presentations both internal to DARPA and external to commercial stakeholders and travel to various stakeholder sites. 

  • Travel with Commercial Strategy leadership to conferences, workshops, performer sites, and various stakeholder sites. Assist with preparing briefings and voice tracks as well as other on-site support as needed. Capture and follow up with action items.  

  • Work closely with the Executive Assistant to manage and prioritize schedules. 

  • Assist in tracking Commercial Strategy efforts with performers and maintain a list of contacts for Commercial Strategy leadership. 

  • Assist with DARPA taskers such as preparing monthly briefings to DARPA leadership, congressional briefings, and other briefings, as needed. 

  • Work with DARPA Public Affairs to coordinate speaking engagements and topics covered.  

  • Work with the Commercial Strategy leadership and team to help achieve the portfolio’s goals and mission to help commercialize DARPA technology and avoid problematic foreign investment in U.S. developed technologies. 




Requirements:


  • Secret clearance, and or ability to secure clearance

  • Hybrid role, with onsite support needed for DARPA Home Week and support of other meetings/workshops/reviews, totaling an estimated 50% onsite at DARPA 

  • 5+ years of experience working with senior leaders and developing briefing materials, pitch decks, agendas, and other briefings for a company/office/Agency strategy to partners and stakeholders, with a minimum of two years for a commercial startup, a consulting firm supporting clients in the venture, Corporate Venture Capital (CVC), accelerator, and or Forbes Global 2000 corporate innovation groups with any of the additional combination of the following: > 3 years supporting C-suite/corporate or  / > 3 years supporting a leadership team at a private/venture/equity, and/or family office or tech accelerator or  / > 3 years supporting a commercial client making M&A, JVs, or licensing investments in technology or / > 4 years supporting a Government SES-level and or executive Government leader(s) in an organization that focuses on commercialization of technology.

  • Ability to be a self-starter, take the lead, and provide briefing capabilities and project coordination in a team role within a complex, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary work environment.

  • Ability to be team-oriented and integrate easily into a team with diverse commercial and technical backgrounds and expertise.

  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate the intellectual content of scientific, technological, and commercial information to both technical, commercial, and lay audiences quickly and effectively.

  • Ability to take highly complicated mission driven and innovative technical, and commercial work and make it simple to understand in concise, compelling briefings for key leaders to make decisions, investments, and or engage in a call to action.

  • Ability to respond to quick turn-around market and/or leadership-driven requests, providing detail-oriented responses.

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.

  • Possession of excellent motivation and analytical and creative thinking skills.

  • Master’s degree or M.B.A.
