Job Description
Lead Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineer:
Level 4:
Skills and Tasks: Exceptionally Complex, Inter-Discipline, Inter-Organizational. Can perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and/or managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks.
Leadership Management: May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.
Guidance: Provides experts guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors teams through project completion.
Job Description Summary:
Provides direct supervision and oversees the enterprise monitoring (EM) team’s support activities on existing and emerging EM tool technologies (e.g., SolarWinds and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, and Splunk)
Leads EM team in providing real-time system monitoring, alerting, and system data collection for all infrastructure services; works with client/server and back-end systems owners to define appropriate monitoring system usage, data collection, and alert thresholds; ensures monitoring solution reports required data up-stream to the enterprise monitor-of-monitors platform and to the systems data analytics platform
Interacts with the government on Systems Engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts; communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives
Responsible for team’s service delivery including weekly reporting, requirements development, and direct customer collaboration in providing a roadmap toward EM and real-time system monitoring, alerting, and system data collection for all infrastructure services
Performs project oversight and resource planning
Leads design and development activities for enterpriseInfrastructure/Server Monitoring (Linux, Windows), Application, SNMP, and Log Monitoring
Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
Assists in reviewing and analyzing business and system requirements and specifications for systems monitoring tool protocols and future tool usage.
Requirements:
Familiarity with existing and emerging EM tool technologies (e.g., SolarWinds, SCOM, and Splunk)
Experience with designing, modernizing, and implementing monitoring solutions for enterpriseInfrastructure/Server Monitoring (Linux, Windows), Application, SNMP, and Log Monitoring.
