Journeyman Database Architect (Principal Engineer Database):
Candidates will be working to support the transformation of all-source analysis with location-based object services. Visualizing and recreating the tools to assist analysts with protecting our nation. We also have positions available in Northern Virginia.
Journeyman Level:
Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
Position Description:
Designs, develops, builds, analyzes, evaluates and installs database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Determines data storage and optimum storage requirements. Prepares system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation
Experience:
5+ Years’ experience
Bachelor of Science degree
Required Skills:
Database engineer supporting the FounDRI scrum team
Performs database engineering and management activities associated with supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the FounDRI application
Architects, designs, and implements bug fixes, capability updates, and enhancements to the FounDRI repositories
Uses OGC Geospatial Services to enable geospatial visualization of Event Data, e.g., to support electronic order of battle (EOB) production
Performs research and development and provides technical support to identify and integrate new and emerging data sources into the FounDRI environment
Specifies and designs automated processes (e.g., extract, transform, and load) to ingest data into the data environment
Researches, identifies, and implements data enrichment technologies that can be incorporated into the ingest stream
Designs and implements storage and indexing strategies to provide efficient storage and retrieval
Supports design and development of data access APIs to accommodate new data sources and to allow enterprise access to access FounDRI data
Develops or updates engineering artifacts associated with the FounDRI data repositorie
