Job Description
Gigabyte Passive Optical Networks (GPON) Technician:
IC-CAP is seeking a Gigabyte Passive Optical Networks (GPON) Technician to work at a site on Joint BaseAnacostia-Bolling. A strong work ethic and flexible attitude are critical for success in this role.
This Technician will be responsible for:
Implementation of VLANs, service profiles and provisioning consistent with customer/design requirements
Set up and confirmation of database backup procedures
Scheduling of Support Windows and Software Update/Upgrade Installation
Assist in network support andresolution/troubleshooting of operational issues
Escalation and direct engagement with Tellabs TAC and Engineering
Generates action plans based upon observed issues
Logs and tracks tickets in tracking system
Regular review of open issues, status and resolutions with local team staff as a single point of contact.
Works with 3rd party vendors as needed to help gather information and resolve issues
Provide informal training and share knowledge with local technical staff
May include participation in creation of local work processes and/or job aids
Assist with moves, adds and changes in provisioning
Coordinate RMA requests in accordance with Warranty and Support Agreement Extended Warranty Technical Expertise
Requirements:
Optical LAN certified (e.g. Tellabs)
DoD 8570 IAT II or Security+
Tellabs familiarity and/or experience
Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux commands
Experienced with Wireshark and TCP dump troubleshooting tools
Layer 1 fiber cabling experience
Must be capable of physical activity, including maneuvering around the building including comms closets, prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting of
50lbs +.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma + 7 years
Associate's Degree + 5 years
Bachelor's Degree + 3 years
Master's Degree + 1 years
PhD + 0 years
Training and Certifications:
IAT Level 2
Security Clearance:
TS SCI CI poly
