Job Description
Cyber Systems Engineer Firewall:
Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.
Skill Level 4:
Skills and Tasks: Exceptionally Complex, Inter-Discipline, Inter-Organizational. Can perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and or managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks
Individual Work / Teamwork or Leadership / Management: May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.
Guidance: Provides expert guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractors’ teams through to project completion.
Job Description:
Provide management and oversight of daily team activities
Act as main touch-point for customer requirements and firewall support functions.
Attend meetings, develop reports, and deliver status updates as required.
Perform system design, testing, deployment, analysis, and sustainment of firewallinfrastructure.
Remain proactive in identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues involving Palo Alto Next Generation firewalls.
Plan and direct upgrades and system enhancements.
Develop and implement test strategies and document results.
Provide technical OJT training and guidance to less experienced team members.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participate in special projects as required
Required Skills:
IP networking experience with switching and routing.
At least 2 years of demonstrated experience with Palo Alto Next Gen firewalls or comparable (Forcepoint Sidewinder, Cisco, Checkpoint, etc…).
At least 3 years of demonstrated experience with teammanagement/leadership.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills:
Direct Routing/Switching experience with a deep understanding of IP networking.
Direct experience with engineering and sustainment of Palo Alto Next Gen firewalls.
Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
5 years of demonstrated experience with team management/leadership.
Ability to operate in a high-ops tempo environment.
Education and Experience:
HS/GED + 12 years
Associates Degree + 10 years
Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years
Master’s Degree + 6 years
PhD + 4 year
Training and Certifications:
Must be IAT Level 2 compliant
Security Clearance:
TS/SCI with CI poly
